I got this computer a while back and due to economy problem I can't afford to get a new one so I decided to make a small upgrade on the graphic part for the upcoming Guild Wars 2. It is my first time trying to SLI the video cards. This is systems spec.
Motherboard - Asus P6T
CPU - Core i7
PSU - 1200W Thermaltake Toughpower
Video Cards - BFG GTX 275 OC (x2 they were bought brand new and I give each to seperate computer)
Hard drive - some 70gig SSD it was long ago and I couldn't remember
RAM - Patriot DDR3 6gig tri channel
So this is the problem. After I installed the 2nd video card, did a clean driver (nvidia) install, set up SLI in nivdia panel, the Guild Wars ran for about an hour and it froze (with black screen and I can only see the mouse pointer). I tried to put the 2nd video card on the 3 slots and did a clean driver install again, tried different sli bridge and the black screen still happened. I tried both bridges and even reconnect the wires but no difference. Then I downloaded furmark to do the video test and I don't understand a thing from it. I let it run for about 20 minutes or so and turned it off cuz I have no clues what I was reading, just temperature rising from both video cards. Then I disable SLI in the nvidia panel and Guild Wars runs smooth so far. I tried BFG tech support but they're out of business. I then tried EVGA chat and a couple of people tried to help me at first but ended up calling me a liar, and something about thievery. Still no clues why.
I don't know any other web site so I thought I try here instead cuz we all play Guild Wars and maybe same thing might have happened to you before. So far the only program that was recomended to test the video card is furmark but I have no clues how to read it. Any suggestion would be great. Thanks for the help in advance.

Hello there have you tried just putting in the new graphics card by itself?
Because it might be having issues running with the other graphics card if it works by itself then you just found out that its just issues by running it along with the second one.

When I bought them a while back I had 2 computers and each used 1 card and they were both fine so I'm assuming they're both okay. Now I can't tell which one is which cuz they're practically identical. I don't get what you mean by its just issues by running it along with the second one. Aren't 2 identical cards are best for SLI?

Yes they could be but some problems might arise with that particiular card.
And is that particiular card built for sli?
Now my suggestion from there is if they were just try each one indivisual because then it might be a problem with one particular card like maybe when putting it in you accidently damaged it or whatever.

wow thank you very much for taking the time and did some research. I really appreciate it. I read through all the posts in the link above and my concern now is it was back in 2007 which is 4 years ago and they only mention about lower FPS when SLI is enable so blackscreen is due to low frame rate? I tried this morning running guild wars with single card and SLI and got the same FPS though I only did it by running around in Kamadan for 30 seconds. Should I contact Guild Wars support and ask about this? Later I'm gonna try SLI enable but in the nvidia setting I'm gonna put Guild Wars to run in a single GPU. Is it the same as SLI disable? I don't play any other games so it's hard to do the stress test. Furmark is the only program I know that does it so what setting should I be using? How long should I let it run for?

Guild Wars is not designed for SLI at all, the game engine does not support it, the game first came out in 2005, along time before SLI was the norm, i had the same issues when i tried to run my 8800GTX's in SLI, game wont work,

Just disable SLI when running Guild Wars, your card is more then powerful enough to run the game.

Yeah man as rb mentioned just run it with out the SLI and also you can look forward to guild wars 2 being compatible with it.
Now as far as guildwars 1 the problem there they would probably need to actually take down the whole game and what not to make it SLI compatible.
But from every article I found on GW2 it looks to be Aok!

Thanks for all the help guys. I should have gone here before I hit the EVGA forums and put up with all the insults. I ran furmark test for a bit more than 30 minutes and this is the result

With this test and all the replies I'm pretty sure now my video cards are stable. Greatly appreciated.

Yeah if they appear to be stable then they should be fine and everything,
But however if you want to test it further you can look up all your pc games you got and see if any of them are SLI compatible and test them that way for further knowlege that it will work.
